mica 2012

Vinho Verde, DOC, 2012

Varieties: Loureiro, Azal, Arinto

Oenologist: Pedro Martins

Viticulture: The vineyards are located in an altitude of around 300m in the Sousa and Tamega valleys. The soils are granitic, with high acidity, giving a mineral character to the wines. The organic and biodynamic grapes are carefully chosen and hand picked, before being sent to the winery in 20 Kg plastic boxes.

Oenology: The grapes are pressed in the winery, in small batches of around 4.000 Kg. The fermentation is a slow temperature controlled process, being used only the natural yeasts, coming from the terroirs. The grape varieties are Loureiro, Azal and Arinto.

Tasting: MICA is a fresh and elegant white Vinho Verde. The slow fermentation and the grapes of the vines give elegance and freshness. Intense citric and green apple notes. With a wet stone mineral character, even though coming from a warm year, shows freshness in aroma. The palate is vibrant and intense with fresh fruit flavours and exceptional lightness. Slightly sweet but balanced, its mineral character marks MICA 2012. This wine has been certified by ECOCERT.
